Reviews

The Painting for Photographers Portraits Video Tutorials receive rave reviews like these:

Painting for Photographers Portraits Video Tutorials Illustrate Legitimate Use of Image Hose
I am enjoying your videos!
I like the perspective you bring of actually painting on the image and not using clone brushes,
although I do find myself using the cloners along with your techniques to define my own style.
I also enjoyed learning about the Image Hose. Initially I thought it was too gimmicky, but now
I really see a legitimate use for it.
Thanks!

Painting for Photographers Portraits Video Tutorials Offer Host of Tips Not Previously Seen
I can paint!
Yes, that's how much of a difference Karen Sperling's portraits video tutorials have made to my painting.
The video tutorials are almost like having a Corel Painter master in the room with me, offering a
host of tips I have not previously read about. My portraits are coming to life.
What I also enjoyed about the video tutorials are the references to the Masters of old,
the reasons why a certain method is employed. It is also interesting to watch how
a professional artist uses a brush, the direction of the strokes may not sound important,
but you can't see this in a book.
These video tutorials have brought my portrait painting forward in leaps and bounds, and will continue
to do so for some time to come yet.
Books have taken me so far, these video tutorials have has taken me to the next level.

Loves, Loves, Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials
Karen,
I have gone through many of the video tutorials. I go back and watch two or three times to understand.
I love, love them. It is so much better than written instruction no matter how good the book or the tip.
Many times when I read an instruction, it takes me awhile to find what the book is talking about and
then guessing how to manipulate the brush or whatever the instruction I am trying to learn.
I was getting nowhere fast and I think I will finally be able to create something.
Watching your demonstrations on the video tutorials is a big leap forward for me."

Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Offer Best Instruction
Karen's new video tutorials, Painting for Photographers, brought me to a new level.
I have many books and have been studying directions in those books and
in magazines, and never was able to put the tools to work for me effectively,
on my own picture, before I bought the video tutorials. I think the instruction is better
than anything I have seen so far and watching her far surpasses reading.

Loves Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials
Hi, Karen,
I finally got to review your Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials. This is my first
attempt at using your techniques.
I have never painted a whole image before, only parts mainly the background.
Your Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials have really opened a new world. I really only used the
blenders before, so adding color to an image really takes it a step further.
I love your video tutorials. Not much training on Corel Painter out there.
Thanks for putting out great training videos.

Wow! Fantastic!
I finished the Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Volume 2: Landscapes last night
(round one of watching--I plan on watching several more times)...Wow fantastic...
I like the pace and the amount of detail you provide in the videos!!!
(I really like that you don't get mired in the details...
just the right blend!!!).
I think others will get a lot of good training and education from your
Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Volume 2: Landscapes, so I'm happy
to lend my review!!!

Relies on Karen Sperling for Corel Painter Guidance
I have purchased Artistry products designed by Karen Sperling for a number of years now, including most recently, Painting for Photographers Videos Tutorials Volume 2, Landscapes.
My work is mostly landscapes, typically starting with an image from a film or digital camera that I have taken while traveling, then edited and color corrected with Photoshop, and finally transformed into a painterly rendition via Painter.
From my first "automatic" painting to today's more crafted works, I have relied on Karen's writings to guide me through the creation of skies, oceans and mountains that communicate the vision that I hold in my mind when I first begin working on an image.
What I have found most interesting is that, with each new writing that Karen creates, the advances she proposes are those that I am now most ready for. It is exciting to be in a field of activity that is unfolding as we go, and Karen is one of the leaders in that unfolding process.

"If you wanted to learn basketball, Michael Jordan would have been a great person to have on your team. If you wanted to learn to be an astronaut, Neil Armstrong could have helped launch your career. So, if you really want to learn Corel Painter, there's no one better than Karen Sperling to give you the how's and why's of digital painting."

Karen Sperling's Video Tutorials Highly Recommended
I would highly recommend Karen's Painting For Photographers Video Tutorials Volume 2 - Landscapes and brushes. They are a great way to get focused in on painting beautiful landscapes in an efficient and easily understandable format. Her brushes are great. I was painting with them right away with beautiful results. Check out her other tutorials. She has a great collection of (buy the techniques you want). It is like ordering off a menu. Go for it!

Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Great Quality
Karen
You did it again. I have the Painting for Photographers book, the Painting for Photographers Video tutorials Volume 1: Portraits and the Artistry Bonus Brushes Volume 1. The new video tutorials/brushes for Landscapes are the same great quality. I receved them yesterday and have been busy learning since. The brushes are great and worth the price alone. I took a cruise to Alaska in July and look forward to working on photos from the trip.

No Better Way to Learn Corel Painter
I was so impressed with the artistic and technical information Karen Sperling
provided in the Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Volume 1: Portraits
that I was very interested in the second volume, Painting for Photographers Video
Tutorials Volume 2: Landscapes when she announced it.
If you take the time to look at the examples of her Corel Painter art on this
website, you can't help but wonder at the vast range of expression she's
mastered in Corel Painter--and if you've used Painter for any length of time,
you know the depth and complexity of the program.
As far as I'm concerned, there's no better way to develop your technique in the
application than to learn it from the woman who "wrote the book"--literally.

Children's Portrait Videos: Brilliant
Hi Karen,
I just wanted to tell you I had a chance to watch the children's videos from front
to back over the weekend and they're just so brilliant. I learned so much
and have already started to put them to use. Is there a volume 2?
I edited the background on this image and added brushstrokes after watching
your videos. Done mostly in Photoshop but some Painter work done after your videos.
I have only done 10 paintings and I get better after each one.
I hope to incorporate more of your techniques and get more painterly
with practice.
Yes, feel free to use my comments and name. I'm a big fan of yours.
Thanks again,
Jack Zucker

Karen Sperling's Presentation Style In Line with Learning Style
I decided to preorder the Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Volume 3: Painting Children's Portraits because I have worked with the Painting for Photographers Video Tutorials Volume 1: Portraits, the Painting for Photographers ebook and the Artistry Beginners Guide for Corel Painter I purchased from Karen Sperling and am satisfied that her style of presentation is in line with the way I learn things, so I am confident that her new video tutorials when released will be perfect for me.
Thanks,
Rick
