Karen Sperling is a Los Angeles-based photographer and artist. She has been painting commissioned paintings since 2003 and has exhibited her fine art abstracts in New York's Chelsea art section and during the prestigious Art Basel Miami Beach show (pictured here). Her commissioned paintings and fine art are held in private collections internationally.

Karen is also a top expert in the software program Corel Painter that is considered to be the gold standard of painting applications. Karen has been writing about Painter longer than anyone. She wrote the first several Painter manuals when the software debuted over 30 years ago.

Corel has named her an Elite Corel Painter Master and she is the author of many how-to Corel Painter books, including the popular Painting for Photographers series, available at this website and at Amazon.

Artists and photographers from around the world travel to Los Angeles to learn from Karen Sperling privately and in classes. She is also an experienced speaker who has guest lectured at the national Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and WPPI conventions, local PPA affiliates and PPA schools. She has taught Corel Painter at major companies, including Disney Feature Animation and American Greeting Cards.
