Karen Sperling's Painting for Photographers DVD

Volume 2: Landscapes, Corel Painter

Karen Sperling's Painting for Photographers DVD: Volume 2, Landscapes shows how to turn landscape photos into paintings in Corel Painter.

This tutorial DVD is based on Painter Master and original Painter expert Karen Sperling's 20 years of experience teaching photographers how to paint their photos with the world's leading painting software program.

The DVD's videos provide art lessons in addition to the software steps. Viewers learn such important art theories as how to tell if a photo is a good candidate to be turned into a painting; how to choose colors; and how to maximize the use of tones to create masterpiece landscape paintings from photos.

Included are discussions of landscape master artists and art throughout time, including Edward Hopper, Claude Monet and Paul Cezanne.

Corel has just released Painter 12 and the DVD's videos include step-by-step tutorials and instructions for painting landscapes in Painter X, 11 and 12, including information about Corel Painter 12's new features.

Included on the Painting for Photographers DVD are:
*91.24 minutes of tutorial movies
*2 Bonus tutorial movies covering:
Painting seascapes
Painting cityscapes
*3 sets of bonus brushes that simplify the painting process and provide exquisitely rendered oil and watercolor style brushstrokes master crafted by Karen Sperling, based on her 20 years of experience working with Corel Painter.

The Painting for Photographers DVD: Volume 2, Landscapes' tutorial videos cover:

Art Lessons Analyzing the Art, Style and Techniques of famous artists

Artists studied include Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet, John Constable, George Inness, Vincent Van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, J. M. W. Turner, John Robert Cozens, Edward Hopper, John Sell Cotman, Thomas Girtin, Frederic E. Church, Granville Redmond, Thomas Gainsborough and Jack Wilkinson Smith.

Movie Tutorials Cover These Topics in Karen Sperling's Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes:

*How to decide if a photo is a good candidate to be turned into a painting.
*How to edit tones
*How to choose a color scheme
*How to use Painter's brushes
*How to use custom palettes
*How to work with Painter's clones
*How to work with Painter's Tracing Paper
*How to edit brushes
*How to paint photos
*How to use Karen Sperling's special tips and techniques
*Start-to-finish workflow steps

The Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes has up-close demonstrations of Karen Sperling's techniques for painting mountains, skies, trees and flowers, including information about brushes and settings. In addition, you see in action how employing art concepts helps you to know what to paint.

Other demonstrations include how to use custom palettes, how to paint photos using Tracing Paper, how to know what to paint and many other tips, techniques and skills that will help take your painting to the next level, whether you're a professional photographer or a hobbyist.

A Corel Painter Master, Karen Sperling brings to the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes her 20 years of experience explaining how to use Painter gained through writing the software's first several manuals and several Painter books, including the bestselling Painting for Photographers; producing her previous highly regarded Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 1: Portraits; writing Artistry tutorials and her popular ezine, Artistry Tips and Tricks; teaching Painter at local PPA affiliates, schools and the national PPA and WPPI conventions; and teaching at her own renowned Artistry Retreats.

Bonus Materials in Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes

The bonus materials include movies showing:

How to paint seascapes

How to paint cityscapes

Paintings by Karen Sperling from her photos, featured on the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes.

The bonus materials also include three sets of Karen Sperling's custom brushes.

Click here to test drive two of the brushes that are included on the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes.

To install the brushes in Painter:
Shut down Painter, open the zip file and put the .jpg file and folders in the following location, depending on your operating system.
When you move the file and folder inside the Painter Brushes folder, the brush will become a part of the current library in the Brush Selector.

Mac
Users -> [User Name] -> Library -> Application Support -> Corel -> Painter (X or 11) -> [Workspace Name or Default] -> Brushes ->Painter Brushes

Windows
Documents and Settings -> [User Name] -> Application Data -> Corel -> Painter (X or 11) -> [Workspace Name or Default -> Brushes ->Painter Brushes

Windows Vista
Users -> [User Name] -> AppData -> Roaming -> Corel -> Painter (X or 11) -> [Workspace Name] -> Brushes ->Painter Brushes

Then, when you launch Painter, you should see a Brush Category called KarenSperlingSample and inside there are two variants, Formation01 and TexturizedBlender06.

Use Formation01 to paint the grass tips that you see in the landscape image above. Use TexturizedBlender06 to blend the bottoms of the grass brushstrokes.

Notice that when you paint, the brushes deposit multiple strokes, which speeds up painting. You'll find more "quick fix" brushes on the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes, and on the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 1: Portraits, Artistry Bonus CD Volume 1 (Portraits) and the Artistry Bonus CD Volume 2 (Landscapes).

You'll be amazed at how quickly you can get these great results that you see in the images on this page. The key is not just having these quick, multiple-stroke brushes, but also the art lessons provided on the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2: Landscapes.

With the help of the information and the brushes on the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 2 and the Artistry Bonus CD Volume 2, you'll be painting landscapes and portrait backgrounds quicker than you can say Monet!

Painting for Photographers DVD's Great Quality
Karen
You did it again. I have the Painting for Photographers book, the Painting for Photographers DVD Volume 1: Portraits and the Artistry Bonus CD Volume 1. The new DVD/CD for Landscapes are the same great quality. I receved them yesterday and have been busy learning since. The brushes are great and worth the price alone. I took a cruise to Alaska in July and look forward to working on photos from the trip.

What Everyone's Saying about the Artistry Bundles

Karen Sperling's Corel Painter Instructions Thorough and Easy to Follow
Thanks to you Karen, my new guru for Corel painter.
I am so impressed with anyone who masters Corel Painter, but I sincerely
like your style. I have bought various other instructional materials and
have used other Corel Painter videos, but I like your approach the best.
You make it look and sound so easy - a sign of a good teacher I think.
I love how you refer to the great art masters and incorporate art theory.
Your instruction is thorough and easy to follow. Your own works are
inspiring.
Thanks again.

Artistry Bundle Great Use of Limited Finances
Hi, Karen,
Why I ordered the Artistry bundle:
One, because of your bio and expertise with Photoshop and Corel Painter.
Two, because I've investigated other workshops and at $2500-$5000 a workshop,
I felt this was a better use of my limited finances.
And three, whether I was able to afford a workshop or not, I figured
I'd be able to get the training I needed to do what I wanted with my photos and
that would also help me if I did get to attend a workshop.
C.D.

Impressed with Artistry Tutorials
Hi, Karen,
I had already bought some copies of Artistry Tips and Tricks newsletters and
was impressed with the tutorials within them.
When the offer came up, the chance to get such a range of similar
materials at such a generous price was too good to pass up.
I was given quick access to the Painting for Photographers pdf download and,
having looked at it, I am well pleased with what it contains.
I look forward to working through all the material.
Michael
