You're a professional photographer or a hobbyist, you just got Corel Painter, you want to turn photos into paintings, but don't know where to begin?

You've come to the right place!

Get all your basic Painter questions answered in the Artistry Corel Painter Beginners Guide written by Karen Sperling, who has been writing about Painter longer than anyone, starting with the first Painter manual when the software debuted over 20 years ago.

The Artistry Beginners Guide takes you one step at a time through the process of creating beautiful paintings from your portrait and landscape photos with Painter. It includes clear, concise, easy-to-understand basic information about where Painter's tools and brushes are and what they're for.

The Artistry Beginners Guide is an Acrobat .pdf file with written steps and illustrations. It isn't movies or DVDs. You follow it like reading magazine articles or book chapters.

It also isn't the manual. It only has what you need to know to get into painting without extraneous setup stuff that you'll never use.

You start out with a look at the user interface and the more commonly used brushes and tools, including explanations and illustrations.

Then you follow simple, thorough steps to turn your portrait and landscape photos into paintings.

The Guide includes all the interim steps and images.

The Artistry Beginners Guide is the most basic, straight-forward, easy-to-understand Painter information you will find. The images and steps are kept simple to make learning easy.

Compatibility

The Artistry Corel Painter Beginners Guide was written for Painter 12. It applies to Painter X3, 2015 and 2016 because the interface is the same for all the versions.

The images and tutorials reflect current-day, state-of-the-art painting techniques for professional photographers' client portraits and hobbyists' kids, grandkids and travel paintings.

The new, up-to-the-minute techniques include easy-to-understand, thorough, step-by-step instructions.

Painter IX, X and 11

The Artistry Beginners Guide was written for Painter version IX several years ago and is compatible with versions X and 11--the interface hadn't changed for those versions, and the basic tools and brushes were the same. Some of the brushes might behave a little differently in the more recent versions, and Painter X and 11 had even more tools than Painter IX, but for beginners, this Guide was a perfect place to start for Painter IX, X and 11!
